Fornells

The favourable conditions enjoyed by the town of Fornells have made it a pre-eminent summer-holiday and residential location. It is indeed a zone with a special charm, to which are added a pleasant temperature and abundant fishing. This explains how it has over the course of time gone from being a little place surrounded by pines to a built-up area whose original beauty nevertheless remains almost intact.

Fornells features a marina and the house that Bonaventura Sabater had built over the Port de Ses Orats, named El Paradís and which tradition has it was the place from which this coastline was christened with the now well-known name of the Costa Brava.

The small town also has a sailing club, the small Ses Orats and Can Malaret bays, and two major hotel establishments. It can be reached from Begur along the Aiguablava road and also along the coastal path that runs between Fornells and Platja d’Aiguablava. We might note that the landscape surrounding this town is felt to be that most closely identified with Begur.
